DIASPORA CORNER
This is a special section devoted to Umu Ohiaeri living outside Nigeria: in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and across the globe.
Whether you left Nigeria recently, a long time ago or were born and raised abroad, this space is for you.
Diaspora Corner exists to:
- Help our children and grandchildren understand who they are and where they come from
- Appreciate the hybrid identities of those navigating life as both Ohiaeri and American, British, or Canadian
- Foster a sense of pride, belonging, and continuity
Guidelines for Contributing to Diaspora Corner
We welcome submissions from Ohiaeri family members abroad of all ages and backgrounds. If you’d like to contribute a story, please follow these guidelines:
- Keep it Accessible: Write in clear English; feel free to include Igbo terms, but explain them for readers who may not speak the language fluently.
- Honor Family Values: Avoid divisive, political, or inappropriate content. This is a family space, rooted in unity and love.
- Length: Articles should be 300–800 words. Shorter posts (100–200 words) are also welcome.
- Media: You may submit photos, short videos, or audio clips.
- Attribution: All content will be credited unless the contributor wishes to remain anonymous.
